Subprocessors
The companies that handle data for Curtains, what each one does and where.
On this page
The short version
- Three companies handle data for Curtains: Cloudflare, Stripe and PostHog.
- None of them ever gets your screen. Frames stay in memory on your device.
- Stripe is also the seller of paid plans, so it handles your payment details under its own privacy policy.
- We’ll update this page before we add a new one.
Cloudflare
Cloudflare, Inc., United States, with data centers around the world.
- What it does: hosts curtains.app and the update files, runs the account server and its database, and sends sign-in and team invite emails.
- What it handles: your email address, purchases, team and devices (hashed device IDs and device names), the emails we send, and the requests your browser and the app make to curtains.app, including IP addresses in Cloudflare’s own request logs.
- Privacy policy: cloudflare.com/privacypolicy
Stripe
Stripe, Inc. and its affiliates, United States and other countries.
- What it does: sells paid plans as the merchant of record through Stripe Managed Payments. It runs checkout, takes payments, works out and collects tax, sends receipts, handles refunds and runs the billing portal.
- What it handles: your name, email, billing address, payment details and any tax ID, which you give to Stripe at checkout. It tells us your email, the plan, the payment and subscription status, the seat count, and its customer and subscription IDs.
- Its role: for the purchase, Stripe is the seller and decides how it uses your payment details, under its own policy. It’s listed here so you can see every company involved.
- Privacy policy: stripe.com/privacy
PostHog
PostHog, Inc., United States (PostHog’s US cloud).
- What it does: receives anonymous usage stats from the Curtains app, when they’re on.
- What it handles: which features are used, under a random install ID that isn’t linked to you, plus the Curtains version, the operating system and its version, the processor type, the plan and the system language. Each request shows PostHog the sender’s IP address, and every event tells PostHog not to record it. No screen content, no window titles, no email. The Privacy Policy lists every event.
- Privacy policy: posthog.com/privacy
What isn’t here
- Your meeting app. Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and the rest capture the Curtains Presenter window when you share it, under their own policies. We don’t send them anything.
- Apple. Apple notarizes the Mac app before we release it, which doesn’t involve any of your data.
