Refund Policy
How refunds work with Stripe as the seller, how to ask, and what happens to your plan after a refund.
On this page
The short version
- Stripe handles refunds as the seller. Curtains is sold through Stripe Managed Payments, so refunds follow Stripe’s process.
- Stripe may refund within 60 days of a payment in certain cases. Otherwise refunds are at our discretion.
- Try before you pay. Every install gets 14 days of Pro free, with no card, so you can be sure first.
- Cancelling isn’t the same as a refund. Cancel any time and your plan runs to the end of the year you paid for.
- Your rights under the law still apply, including the EU and UK right to cancel an online purchase.
How refunds work
Curtains is sold through Stripe Managed Payments, with Stripe as the seller (the merchant of record). Stripe handles refund requests under its own policies, and can refund a payment within 60 days of the purchase in certain cases.
We don’t otherwise promise refunds, but we read every request and may refund at our discretion, for example if you were charged twice or by mistake.
A refund goes back to the card or payment method you used, and includes any tax Stripe charged you. Banks usually take a few business days to show it.
How to ask
- Through Stripe: your receipt says your purchase was sold through Link, Stripe’s checkout. Ask Link support for a refund.
- Through us: email support@curtains.app from the email address on your Curtains account. Say which plan, and include the receipt Stripe emailed you if you have it.
What happens after a refund
- The plan ends. A Pro or Pro for teams subscription is cancelled, so it won’t renew.
- No new devices. You can’t activate a new device, or renew a pass, with a refunded plan.
- Devices you already activated. Curtains checks your plan on your device without going online, so we can’t switch a device off from our side. Please use Deactivate this device on Studio’s Account page on each device you activated with the plan. Curtains then goes back to Free.
- Your settings stay. Combos, themes and settings are never deleted. A custom theme comes back if you upgrade again.
Cancelling instead
You don’t need a refund to stop paying. Cancel Pro or Pro for teams any time in the billing portal, from your account page on curtains.app. Your plan keeps working until the end of the year you paid for, then Curtains goes back to Free. Nothing is charged after that.
The free trial
The 14-day trial needs no account and no card, so there’s nothing to cancel and nothing to refund. When it ends, Curtains switches to Free by itself.
Pro for teams seats
- Seats you add during the year are charged right away for the rest of the year.
- Seats you remove come off at your next renewal. The current year isn’t refunded.
- Removing a member frees their seat for someone else. It doesn’t refund the seat.
Your rights under the law
This policy adds to your rights; it never takes any away.
- In the EU and the UK, consumers can usually cancel an online purchase within 14 days. For software you can download and use straight away, that right can end once you start using it, if you agreed to that at checkout.
- Elsewhere, you keep any refund or cancellation rights your local consumer law gives you.
As the seller, Stripe applies these rights to your purchase under its terms: https://link.com/terms#sold-through-link-terms.
Chargebacks
If something went wrong with a payment, please email us first; we can usually fix it faster than a bank. A payment that’s disputed with your bank ends the plan’s subscription and stops new device activations for it.
