# Plans

> What Free, Pro, Lifetime and Pro for teams include, and what the trial gives you.

Every plan has every layout, every presenter tool, hiding apps by hand, work-only Sources and every update. Plans differ in how many windows you can share and in two extras: the badge, and custom backgrounds and overlays.

## What each plan includes

### Free

- Free forever, on any number of devices.
- 2 windows on the canvas.
- The "Shared with Curtains" badge is always on.
- No custom backgrounds and overlays.

### Pro

- Billed yearly, for one person on up to 3 devices.
- 6 windows on the canvas.
- The badge is optional.
- Custom backgrounds and overlays.

### Lifetime

- Paid once, for one person on up to 3 devices. Nothing to renew.
- Everything in Pro, with every future update.

### Pro for teams

- Billed yearly, per seat, with 3 seats minimum.
- Everything in Pro, for each seat. A seat is one person on up to 3 devices.

The differences, in Curtains:

- **Windows on the canvas.** The limit applies to the windows you pick. On Free, once two are picked the other rows in **Sources** can't be picked, and their tooltip says "You can share up to 2 windows".
- **The badge.** A small "Shared with Curtains" pill in a corner of the canvas. On Pro, Lifetime and Pro for teams you can turn it off in **Settings › Presenter**. Its corner is a setting there too. (Pro)
- **Apps in Sources.** On every plan, Sources shows only work apps by default and you can hide any app by hand. This is free, not a Pro feature. See [Apps in Sources](https://curtains.app/help/hidden-apps/).
- **Custom backgrounds and overlays.** Your own colors, gradients, background images and overlays. The five built-in themes are on every plan. See [Themes and custom backgrounds](https://curtains.app/help/themes-and-custom-backgrounds/). (Pro)

## The 14-day trial

Every new install gets Pro for 14 days, with no account and no card. It includes up to 6 windows and custom backgrounds and overlays. The badge stays on during the trial.

The trial's start date is kept in the macOS keychain, so reinstalling Curtains doesn't restart it. When it ends, Curtains moves to Free. Free is a plan like any other, so there is nothing to cancel.

## See your plan

The item at the bottom of Studio's left rail shows your plan: **Trial** with the days left, **Free**, **Pro**, **Lifetime**, **Team** or **Renew**. Click it to open the **Account** page.

The Account page shows your plan, your email, the team name on a team plan, when it renews or **Lifetime**, and this device's name.

## What happens when a plan ends

Curtains drops to Free. Nothing is lost.

- Your settings, combos and themes stay.
- Sources keeps showing only work apps, and apps you hid yourself stay hidden.
- A custom theme is drawn with its preset's background, and comes back when you're on a paid plan again.
- You can pick two windows at a time.

## Change plans

To upgrade, buy a plan on the [pricing page](https://curtains.app/pricing/). Then click **Sign in** or **Upgrade** on Studio's Account page to activate each device. See [Activate a device](https://curtains.app/help/activate-a-device/).
